according to Stonewall 55% think same-sex couples SHOULD be allowed to get married

Sitting at home, sorting out post, sorting out what is going to be eaten for lunch, when my boyfriend was heading out to Boots’ he found some post in his pigeonhole. He, having emailed Stonewall about the Ben Summerskill affair at Lib Dem Conference during the week, appears to have promptly got a letter seeking donations to their coffers.

Enclosed was a leaflet which has the wonderful statistics from an Observer/ICM Poll in September 2008 that

45% think same-sex couples should NOT be allowed to get married

using my simple arithmetic learnt in primary school, I can work out that therefore

55% think same-sex couples SHOULD be allowed to get married.

which is also confirmed by looking at the original survey

Observer / ICM poll - September 2008

Therefore, what on earth is taking Stonewall so long to work out their position on Equal Marriage. This poll was over two years ago, Stonewall is using the figures in a strange way. If only Stonewall would use the statistics that are clearly there in a positive way, they might actually achieve the equality that Stonewall keeps on saying that they want.

However, if we were to achieve all the equality – then Stonewall’s Chief Executive and staff would be out of a job. Maybe this is the reason?
