paying our respects – PA MagLochlainn

I have just received notification from Jeffrey Dudgeon of information regarding the funeral of PA MagLochlainn who died yesterday. Readers from outside Northern Ireland may find the speed at which funerals are organised here surprising – but it is the tradition in NI.

PA will be at O’Kane’s funeral parlour in Donegall Street, on Thursday 15 November, from 3pm onwards for people to pay their respects. Moving to his brother’s home in Dungiven on Friday. Funeral Mass in Dungiven at 10am on Saturday. Please come and let others know.

Andre Graham has kindly opened up the top bar in Union Street just around the corner from O’Kane’s funeral parlour for people to gather from 4-6pm this afternoon (Thursday) to remember and give thanks for PA and if they wish to say farewell to him a she lies in state.

I am unable to be there myself, so will be making the journey to Dungiven in the near future to find PA’s final resting place on this earth and hope that it is in the hills that he loved to talk about to me.

I encourage as many people as possible to go and pay their final respects. It has been agreed that the LGBT community and others should come from 4pm to allow PA’s brothers and sisters to have seen him first.
