The streets of Belfast city centre and the Cathedral Quarter are set to come alive for five days in May to the sounds of laughter and the sights of acrobatics, music, and comedy as the Festival of Fools celebrates ten years of coordinated comedic chaos.

Back in 2004, the first ever street theatre festival in Northern Ireland kicked off with an Italian clown abseiling down from the top of Castlecourt. From that first moment, the response from audiences in Belfast has been very special and it’s that support which has kept us going to this point where we are staging the 10th Festival of Fools. — Festival of Fools website.

From 2nd-6th May, artists from around the world will be coming to perform at one of Belfast’s most popular events – the annual street theatre festival celebrating the international language of laughter.

With non stop shows throughout the day in locations across the City Centre and Cathedral Quarter, each evening finishes with a variety style show featuring highlights from the day’s acts in the relaxed surroundings of Saint Anne’s Square.
